Todd Searles

Born and raised in the local area, Todd learned the majority of his craft while growing up on a 200 acre farm located on Oak Hill Lake, near Stirling, Ontario. He spent summers working on the family farm and various construction firms in the area. Easy access to lumber from the farm, especially Cherry, Oak, Maple and Pine may have influenced Todd’s desire to work with wood at an early age, as they were always cutting and milling their own lumber for use on the farm, whether it be building sheds, pens, fences, benches or rough furniture, working with wood has always been part of Todd’s life.

Todd later attended Lake Head University in Thunder Bay, Ontario and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He continued to build and design furniture pieces after moving back to the area while working in the Telecommunications industry for several years.

Todd’s recently built workshop, just East of Stirling in Thurlow Ward, now accommodates a modest 550 square foot wood working studio. Todd spends the majority of his time building custom, one off, furniture pieces. Cherry is his preferred wood to work with, however he has made custom pieces in a variety of species including Black Walnut, Maple, and White Oak.
